The previous units in this course have done an amazing job training me to prepare a days worth of class activities. However, this was the first unit which really taught me how to tests the students knowledge. One of the hardest things for teachers is trying to figure out how much information your students are retaining. Progress tests and an initial placement tests seem like great assets to a language classroom. that way your can plan based on tested skill level and track how students are improving in some areas more than others. Placement tests (at least in my opinion) seem to be most worth while in a language classroom setting. classroom assignments and activities only really give teachers a sense of day to day understanding but not long term retention. Placement exams help make sure that students can hold onto the day to day knowledge long term.
