Unit 9 explained the principles of good lesson planning. It gave reasons for lesson planning, as well as some potential reasons for not lesson planning - or at least being flexible in a lesson plan. New teachers probably ought to plan more than less. There also was a discussion on the elements of a lesson plan and evaluation of a lesson plan after it is finished. One new thing I learned was that a lesson plan is an important form of record keeping. It can be referred back to at a later date for several reasons. For example, a teacher can recall exactly what material students have learned and thus are responsible for. Another reason to have a lesson plan as a record is to improve it as it is reused in the future. I think it would be a good idea, as much as possible, to annotate lesson plans during or after class to continue growing as an instructor.
