This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learnt that speaking and writing are productive skills. Both are equally important to communicate effectively. Often, writing skills are not seen as important because teachers view this as \"too much\" quiet time. Teachers need to allow for adequate quiet time in the classroom in order for students to develop this skill. They is a difference between speaking activities: ones which are controlled by the teacher and where accuracy is seen as the most important aim of the activity, for example drilling activities. Guided activities which require more accuracy but give students some freedom in their response e.g. guided role-play. Lastly, there are creative communication activities which solely focus on giving students freedom in their communication and less emphasis on accuracy, these activities are still created initially by the teacher.
