For first lessons the teacher should start with an activity that help him/her establish rapport with the students, get to know about them, their language level and their needs.As a warming activity Hangman, tongue twisters or memory games can be used.For large classes in order to involve all the students lots of pair/group work should be used as well as choral drilling exercises and work sheets.For a different level class different materials or the same material with different tasks can be used in addition to pairing a stronger student with a weaker one.For reluctant students the use of role-play and pair work can be very useful in getting them more involved.To reduce the use of the student's native language in class make sure that the activities given are appropriate to the student's level adg that the explanations and instructions given are clear.
