This unit covered how to teach the productive skills of speaking and writing. It went into detail about the best ways that these skills can be taught in a fun and motivating way for the students. It covered a variety of activities and games which can be used to avoid lessons becoming tedious and repetitive. The unit explained the difficulties that teachers run into when trying to teach non-english speakers these skills and how to work through some of the main challenges. I thought that the distinction between accuracy and fluency in speaking skills was particularly interesting. I liked the fact that they were divided into two separate sections and that the unit gave examples of how to focus on each one in a separate part of the lesson. I think this enables both the teacher and student to really tackle the different areas of speaking a new language.
