This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I really liked the idea of having a goal for your students (about what they should learn by the end of the lesson) and having a goal as a teacher. I always want to improve my teaching skills, but never did I think of writing down goals for each time I teach and assessing myself after. I also liked the concept of trying to predict problems that students may have and reflecting on how accurate I was with the type of problems that occurred. Because I've been teaching for 2 years, I thought I was a veteran at creating lesson plans. But this unit really opened my eyes to things that can dramatically improve my teaching. Especially the part talking about if students really enjoy an exercise, prolong the exercise. The best way to learn is through self-motivation and fun. Having fun exercises is a main factor in the ability for a student to learn something.
