This unit focused on the characteristics of a good teacher and learner. The unit first covered the different roles an effective teacher can utilize to motivate and engage his/her students in a classroom setting, such as manager/controller, organizer, etc... The second part of the unit described the different types of learners a teacher may encounter based on age, language-experience, and a variety of other factors. All these factors can contribute to how a teacher might plan his/her lesson in order to more effectively help students succeed. In addition, it is important for a good teacher to take into consideration his/her students' backgrounds and customs to build rapport and create a safe learning environment. Overall, it is essential for an effective teacher to be able to motivate his/her class through varied and interesting lessons and activities.
