In this unit I learnt about the different books and materials available to me as a teacher and how I can use them to teach a class. There are 2 groups of materials that can be used in a lesson, authentic and Created. Authentic materials are things that native speakers come across in everyday life including newspapers, poems, magazines and many more. Created materials however are things that you as a teacher create such as photo clippings. Using a mix of the two can produce an interesting lessons for kids. When it comes to course books I learnt that children will expect you to use a course book but a good teacher will also supplement extra materials and adapt the course book to their own children's needs rather than just following the book exactly. As a teacher putting your own flair into the lesson can make your students that much more engaged.
