This unit actually made me think a lot about the unit where we compared the two videos of a teacher performing his teaching duties in the classroom. As I read through the activities described here, I began to connect the instruction of the speaking skills to the video. For example, in the video we saw the teacher perform a drilling exercise. We also saw him use pictures and elicit vocabulary words to engage the students and we saw a successful activate stage where the students were asked to create their own animal and then describe it. I am also found it interesting that it is important to teach penmanship because it shows the many ways in which a new alphabet has an impact on one's language skills. Not only do we have to teach to pronounce correctly when speaking but, to represent accuracy in written communication through clean and clear handwriting.
