This unit was a quick overview of the use of textbooks. For new teachers, not knowing what resources and materials will be available to them could create anxiety. In my teaching experiences I have found that each school is different. Some schools provide a scripted curriculum and pacing guide that all teachers across the district have to adhere to. In my former school only our math curriculum was scripted whereas all other subject areas were taught with supplemental resources. Getting to create my own lessons was fun as it allowed me to use my creativity and adapt all of my lessons to my students' needs. However, it was a lot more work and collaboration with other staff members was essential in order to be successful. I look forward to using the information learned in this unit and my own personal experiences to differentiate content for my students.
