In this unit we learn about the different teaching theories, techniques and methods. We discover the many methodologies and understand that there needs to be lots of language exposure, a decent amount of teacher input, low student anxiety and stress levels, communicative tasks are good but are not enough on their own and students need to be encouraged to discover the English language by themselves. Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) is the teaching method that this course is based on and there are many examples of ideas for each phase. Giving feedback is important, but we need to do it in an encouraging and positive manner. We need to build self-awareness of the mistake or error made and aim to improve it. We learn the right way to correct and the different correction ways. We get general guidance notes on lesson panning involving the ESA teaching method.
