Using the Engage concept from the ESA format to break the ice and introduce new vocabulary words via pictures or objects we can then move to the study portion of the vocab such as spelling, grammatical usage, and pronunciation. Then using the activate portion of the ESA format we apply the vocabulary learned to use in activities that make use of the precise theme or concept. The format that we can use may be Straight Arrow, Patchwork, or Boomerang.This unit covers various classroom scenarios that an EFL teacher may encounter in his or her teaching career. Different techniques and activities that can be used as well as the dos and don?ts of teaching specific groups such as beginners, young learners and business students were discussed. The unit also explained how to cater lessons for individuals and I found this particular part very helpful for me as I am currently doing part-time tutoring.
