This latest unit pulled together previous units in the preparation of a lesson-plan. I am particularly interested in these, specific methods, since using the learned language basics in a successful classroom experience is what it's all about. The discussion of the different ESA methods according to the teachability level was most helpful. Working with a small child is, obviously, not going to include grammatical functions. I am going to need to refer to this, and many other units as I begin this new teaching experience!The unit covered teaching specialized groups, including beginners, children, and business professionals. It was made clear the importance of identifying the unique needs of each population and the best approaches to meeting these needs. Special considerations such as pacing and structure in the the children's classroom and the importance of a needs analysis in the business setting were discussed. I learned the value of knowing your audience and adjusting my methods according to their levels, motivation, and interest.
