This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit discusses conditionals and reported speech. I learned that these concepts are very difficult for ESL learners to study and require detailed attention. I myself did not know that there are that many types of conditionals and how strict reported speech is gramatically. There is a lot of conjugating to remember in order to compose these types of sentences correctly. Even native speakers often make mistakes with regards to conditionals and reported speech in a casual setting. However, both are important to learn for proper communication.I feel that this unit gives emphasis on pronunciation which is thought to be the most neglected aspect of the English language. There are teachers who go through the trouble of teaching correct pronunciation to their students. Still there are others who do not feel it is so important so they just quickly run through it with the students hoping that they would eventually adapt the correct pronunciation of words. In my opinion, this subject matter must be given equal importance to gradually develop the student's confidence in using the language.
