This unit focused on listening and reading skills. This broke down the reason for listening and reading, how we listen and read , as well as covering methods for choosing language, topics, creating interest and and outline of a patchwork lesson on receptive skills. This unit was very useful for me. I liked how it went over choosing topics, language, and creating interest. Those elements are key to having a fun engaging lesson for the students.Unit 18 deals with modals, phrasal verbs and the passive voice. This area of English is seldom studied and often confusing to l2 students. Even as a native English speaker when discussing modal and phrasal verbs many of us become confused and cannot fully explain the basics of these concepts. therefore, it is very important as a teacher to review these concepts often to make sure we fully grasp them, in order to teach our students effectively.
