This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Our last unit continued what we started in the previous unit and talked about problems that can occur in a classroom environment and gave useful ideas on how to solve them. It also gives a step-by-step example of how to start a first lesson, what a teacher should establish on the first lesson. It showed a variety of 'warmer' activities to create a nice atmosphere and get to know our class. After that we could read about difficulties in different areas (like listening skills, large group numbers, reluctant students, etc.) and got a lot of ideas on how to handle these.Unit 4 'Present tenses' provides us with the key information upon the vital topic for learners of all levels. The most important for me in this topic was the answer to my question: why should we teach linguistically not correct information. As a linguist I could not state the 12-tenses pattern that I had to teach my students. Now I understand the aim of this little lie. Moreover, I find very useful such content aspects as 'Common mistakes' - it will really help to avoid a wide range of mistakes. Indeed, the revision of present tenses is useful not only for learners.
