This unit went back to teaching English grammar, this time by covering conditionals and reported speech. It was important to go over these rules of grammar, as I don't ever remember having lessons on them in school and it's interesting how I take daily speech for granted without thinking of the rules that go into these conditionals and speech. It could also be difficult to explain convoluted rules like these to non-English speakers, so it was also good to see possible teaching examples covered in this unit.Unit 7 could be seen as a more in depth extension of the teaching methods of Unit 3 combined with more practical applications. Specifically, practical applications in relation to teaching vocabulary and grammatical structures were discussed. These are crucial and helpful because it provides the bridge between knowing the material and being able to manage a classroom. Learning many of these practical applications enable teachers to have concrete methods to build vocabulary and grammatical skills in students.
