This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
It's of course very important to have a clear structure before going into the classroom. Teachers need tools to evaluate the lessons. What could have been done better? Are the students responding accordingly? What is also important is to evaluate ourselves after the lessons. This can be a little difficult. I think it should be self regulatory, but teachers should also involve other teachers. They should sit in on the lessons to evaluate the teachers. We should give each other feedback. Learn from each other. This unit was short and sweet. One thing I learned was ways to teach reluctant students. I like the suggestion of using a tape recorder, it creates an interesting idea from the student's point of view and give insight on what to teach them. Another suggestion that I would like to try is from the 'Large classes' section and that is appointing group leaders. It seems like such a logical choice when a job is too big to do and you can get a student perspective on how others are doing. This was an enjoyable unit.
