This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 14 was a good introduction to the pros and cons of using course books in the classroom. For the greatest understanding it appears that the teacher needs to both create and use course materials that are specifically geared to the class as much as possible. Personally, I have created my own syllabi and materials in the past and this method has been used to great effect. ESL will require a more structured approach, so a course book would be more appropriate with the proper adaptation to the students needs. This is an excellent shpwing of how to provide the ESA structure to a basic lesson plan. I have always struggled with whether more structured planning is better or less. As explained in this lesson, too much structure can destroy the passion and motivation of both the students and the teacher. That said, it is very difficult to effectively transmit the lesson objectives if no planning is done at all. This simple lesson plan guide takes little time, but will greatly strengthen the teachers lesson preparation.
