I liked this unit because it gave me ideas on how to set up my future lesson plans. Having learned a new language myself, it is easy to relate what works for some students may not work for others. It also reminded me on how to correct mistakes made by students. That I shouldn't directly interrupt them when they make a mistake because that could mess up the flow of their work. Also, that praise is more important than correction. In psychology we always state that positive reinforcement is more important than punishment when it comes to learning.Using course book is indeed a big help, but also a lot of responsibility. When able to pick one, the main idea is choose the one that best helps the students with what they need to learn. It it's going to be enough stimuli to keep the momentum in the difficult chapters, while having a good balance of activities regarding reading, listening, speaking and writing. The teacher must get involved and include materials on his own to keep the students interested. That way, gives a twist incorporating something fresh and different from the course book.
