As an ESL teacher, I believe that assessing and testing students is somehow rewarding. Students' grades will always tell you how they are doing in their English classes. You will know if your performance is working out for you or not.
When a student fails a test, there might be lots of reasons that might be out of your range of knowledge. When more than 5 or 6 students fail a test; that output tells you that your teaching is not being effective enough. Then that assessment process spins around to tell you, things have to take a new path in the classroom.
Then, I believe, that evaluation and assessment will always tell students and teachers that learning and teaching are just one big process. It is a business where teachers and students are rewarded.
