The two lessons provided a great contrast of what we should follow and what we should not follow. He performed a straight arrow ESA lesson in the second video and the students responded very well. In the first video the students were intimidated and scared to say anything, and they did not know what was going on and did not feel comfortable to ask, so they looked at other people for the answer. In the second video, the student talk time increased greatly and the teacher talk time decreased. He was a positive and encouraging teacher and I could feel that just watching.This lesson gave me good insight into how various teaching methods help different types of students, as well as their language level. As I read through this unit, I often found similarities between what my own teachers have used and what was being taught in the lesson. It was interesting to make those comparisons, as well as make note of what personally worked well for me as a student. I hope to take these lessons into account for my own students and to do my best to make sure all students have equal opportunity to learn despite their English level and learning style.
