English grammar is difficult to grasp and to teach. Native English speakers often don't know the rules, but rather use proper English because of how it sounds, based on learning to speak. It is helpful to begin with nouns and verbs, since they are included in every sentence. Focusing then on types of nouns would be my next step, then pronouns, then verbs. Using pictures for beginners, especially for more difficult parts of speech, such as prepositions might be an effective way of teaching these concepts.Lesson plans are important to ensure that time spent in class for the student is time well spent. They provide the class with a sense of direction. Hopefully by the end of the class, the students would have acquired new words or new skills.
An experienced teacher may already have their lesson plans in their heads. They may already know how to conduct a class. However, at the very least, putting things on paper can serve as a record that will greatly assist a replacement teacher, should things come to that.
