While studying this unit, I gained knowledge on how to approach teaching a class using different methodologies, techniques and theories. I found that the various methods to use when teaching students a foreign language is exceedingly accommodating for students who all have a different way of learning. In my past experiences of learning a new language, I was only aware of the grammar/ translation and audio/ lingualism methods. I found that although these methods are helpful to an extent, having the other methods of variety to fall back on if other methods prove unsuccessful for certain students will ensure the success of the students’ ability to learn the language. It was interesting to learn about the different activities that the unit provided for each “ESA†phase. My notes for this unit will be helpful when I decide to teach English abroad.
