This unit deals with various teaching methodologies, concentrating specifically on the Engage, Study and Activate method. I have been made aware of the importance of eliciting information from the students in as many ways as possible, always at the appropriate competency level of the students, in order to reduce teacher talk time and to give each student an opportunity to converse in English. It is important to ensure that each lesson is a positive learning experience and not uncomfortable, demeaning or negative for the students. Teachers need to correct mistakes and errors in the most productive manner possible, thereby encouraging the student to continue his journey of exploration and discovery of the language. The unit provided interesting and varied options to initiate in the different stages of the lesson, in order to keep the lessons fresh and exciting.
