Few things I learned from this chapter is; how difficult it is to pronunciation English words and understand the meaning of the sentence based on which word is being stressed in the sentence. I thought it was interesting that most international students learn English through the phonetic alphabet. I have seen them in the dictionary but never thought too much about it. It was difficult to read the phonetics because I didn’t grow up learning them. I am a very detailed person and I have had experience teaching English to international friends. I could hear how they were pronunciation the words and I would help them understand where the tongue is placed and how the mouth should be shaped as well. I have noticed that how we pronounce words is different than how we spell them which I now know its called sound changing. This section was very interesting for me.
