I learned some of the main differences between teaching young learners and teaching adults and business English. Teaching one on one lessons can be more productive, and beneficial for the student, but it is less dynamic and social. Having a mixed group of international students is usually an advantage because the only language that they can use to communicate with each other is English. When teaching young learners I should speak only in English, and speak slowly, and use gestures. Most behavior problems with younger students can be entirely managed by the teacher. Therefore almost any problem that you have with a student should not be blamed on them because you as the teacher are likely not managing the situation appropriately. When teaching older learners business English I don't have to be an expert in their field of business, I am just an expert in English.
