Unit 3 provides a broad overview of different EFL methodologies and discusses each technique's benefits and disadvantages. By exposing learners to a wide scope of language teaching methodologies, Unit 3 affords TEFL students an opportunity to reflect upon which strategies are optimal before approaching a prescriptive explanation of how a TEFL methodology ideally looks, and the in-depth examination of the ESA (Engage, Study, and Activate) method. Unit 3 also presents ideas for activities to accompany each ESA phase and gives examples of potential ESA sequences EFL instructors may adopt, depending on the needs of the given lesson. While the information in Unit 3 covered a lot of general ideas, the inclusion of the specific examples of activities for each ESA phase taught me information that is directly usable in the classroom, which I highly value as a learner.
