This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focused on how to manage a classroom well. The lesson covered useful tools for a teacher to manage his classroom well. The lesson covered gestures, eye contact, and tone of voice and how it can be helpful for building good rapport in the classroom. The unit also covered the pros and cons of different groupings of students, such as whole class or pairwork. Classroom arrangement was also covered, showing how different orders of the desks in a class can building rapport and interaction of students. The unit taught me how to be mindful of my gestures while teaching and how to manage my classroom well. I did not realize before this lesson how arranging desks, maintaining discipline, or even writing on the board before class can help encourage and build rapport, as well as lower teacher talk time. This unit will be helpful when managing my future classroom.
