There are four skills we need to develop when we learn a language. In this unit, we focused on the receptive skills: reading and listening. We discussed different techniques on how to read and listen. Suggestions and ideas were given to help the students understanding what they read. I especially appreciated the importance of choosing our topics carefully. If we find subjects that are of interest to our students they will enjoy learning and put forth more efforts.Most of the materials in this unit usually comes naturally to the teacher when in classroom for example teachers gestures, tone, eye contact, grouping of the students and other classroom management.
However, after reading the materials and watching the video, I have realized how each of teachers wordings and movement are so important and can have either positive or negative affect to the students. This unit made me reflect and think more about managing the class.
