The disparity between the two videos really makes me reflect on the importance of tone, gesture, and voice, as well as the importance of having a responsive, interactive lesson plan. The way in which we approach our students is vital to whether they will feel comfortable to participate in the lessons and not be afraid to make mistakes. Creating connections with the students, by learning their names and actively participating in their learning process, as in the second video, really struck me as I watched how the students were happy to participate. Furthermore, there are many ways and many various methods that can be used to elicit answers from students, to make them more confident in their knowledge and understanding. Thus, I can see now that many factors go into making a lesson successful; teaching is certainly much more than just having an effective lesson plan.
