This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
There have been many techniques developed. Some, such as Grammar - Translation seem to be out-dated. Personally, I think that this method, as a grounding in a language has advantages. Of course, the skills of communicating and speaking do not have priority. For this reason, this is not a recommended technique for the purposes of TEFL. Personally when I learn a language ( I speak German fluently, French at B2 and am learning Bulgarian), I like to understand and have a grasp of the grammar involved and so I would be unhappy with the Lexical approach, though i see why it would be suitable for some students. Reading through the various techniques I see clearly that the ESA is superior to many of the others. It has a flexibility to suit the needs of a variety of students and the teacher is able to vary the lessons in order to keep the lessons lively and interesting.
