This unit covers the two receptive skills: reading and listening. Receptive skills are important for learners so that they can understand a text without having to understand every single word. It is a skill that should be encouraged by the teacher. This unit shows, that it is important that the teacher chooses appropriate texts and topics to create interest and get students engaged in the lesson. It is crucial, that the teacher helps the students to understand by pre-teaching vocabulary and carefully selecting texts and tasks.In this unit, I have learned how to teach new vocabulary, grammar and functions. To teach vocabulary, we must select the appropriate new words according to whom we are teaching. We must teach the meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling and pronunciation of the new words. To teach new grammar we must show students the forms and patterns. Finally, to teach language functions we must use the activation stage of a lesson because the students have to learn to interact with others in many different types of situations.
