This unit reviews the reasons why it is important to create lesson plans, it describes in detail the sections of a typical lesson plan and provides an explanation for each component of it. Next, a sample lesson plan is slowly formulated so each aspect of the lesson plan is filled in with ideas that could be used in structuring a lesson. This is followed by examples of how to approach creating a sequence of lessons. Finally, seven sample lessons are given along with blank lesson plan templates that can be used to create actual lessons. This unit provided useful information for the novice teacher as well as experienced ones. For the novice, it provides a step-by-step approach to creating a well-designed lesson. For experienced teachers, it is a good reminder of the importance of maintaining careful planning and creating a record of lessons that can be used repeatedly.
