This unit talked about the importance of lessons plans and just what benefits they provide to teachers, from being a helpful organizational tool and a record of the past lessons of the class. Briefly highlighted in this section were a few things that a lesson plan could include and some of the basic principles of a lesson plan, with an emphasis on flexibility. The ESA teaching method was also incorporated into this section, with a nice refresher of that information. One thing I did learn about from this section was the importance of flexibility, especially when planning a sequence of lessons as generally student’s pace and learning can often jumble up the plans you have for the class as a whole. I also learned about the importance of monitoring yourself as the teacher, including possible personal aims in a lesson plan as well as a self-evaluation after lessons.
