Firstly, of all the modal auxiliary verbs, perhaps it is the request/permission modals that are the most mind-boggling. One may need to pay extra attention to their language depending on whether they are talking to their friends or to people whom they meet for the first time. Secondly, memorizing phrasal verbs over and over again is maybe the only way of learning phrasal verbs. To accomplish this goal, the students should be given much homework in addition to the in-class exercises. This is because the verb that goes into the phrasal verb loses its meaning completely and thus becomes impossible to derive its meaning. Thirdly and lastly, the passive voice is employed in conversations especially when we do not know who has performed the activity or when we do not want to finger-point the doer. Hence it makes our language more academic, and therefore it is indispensable.
