This unit started with the description of the qualities that a good and effective teacher and learner should have. The teacher can have a variety of roles, which are determined by the learning activity and objective.
A brief description of the 6 levels of language proficiency was given, both in the terms which are most commonly used and the recently established terms by the Council of European states. I also learned about the pros and cons of a range of aspects of learning that can be linked to the student's age. The teacher should also take the student's cultural background into account.
Unit 1 concluded with a number of reasons that motivate foreign students to learn or improve their English language skills.
I like the fact that attention was given to a varied and interactive learning process between the teacher and the student and/or among the students themselves.
