Unit nine provides an overview on lesson planning. It discussed the rationale behind it (especially for the inexperienced teachers), and its layout and components. Finally, a sample lesson plan for a beginner class is given which aims at consolidation of animal vocabulary as a requisite for introduction of a new grammatical structure.
The sample lesson plan reminded me of my early days in teaching. I used to prepare such detailed LPs at that time. But, gradually, after I gained the necessary experience, knowledge, and confidence my LPs shrunk more and more to a point that they now barely exceed a couple of lines on a slip of paper (or the tiny black space on the first page of the new unit). However, having said that, this shortness does not take away from the importance of LP as a prerequisite for conducting a successful lesson that meets the objectives of the course.
