The creation of past simple is formed adding –ed or –d to the base form of the verb. Past simple can be used when past action is given a specific time. Past continuous is used to form a sentence in the past continuous, here we use the past tense of the aux, verb ‘be’ (was/were) + the present participle (verb + ing). Past continuous should be used when used to indicate the gradual development of past events. Past perfect is formed through the use the past form of the aux. verb ‘to have’ and the past participle. Past perfect can be fully utilized when a completed action is before another action in the past. To make the past perfect continuous, we use the past form of the aux. verb ‘to have’ + been + the present participle (verb + ing). Past perfect continuous should be used when Showing cause of an action or situation in the past.
