This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I found it really helpful that the unit pointed out that we, as teachers, should encourage students to understand texts without knowing every word. I can relate to wanting to know every word I come across while I was learning other foreign languages, but realized that I got so caught up in the vocabulary, that sometimes I wouldn't catch the rest of what was being said. So I came to realize how important it is to try and get the overall concept of what was being said, rather than getting hung up on the specifics, if they weren't essential to understanding what was being said/read. I also found it especially helpful to see the two examples of lessons. I think that the patchwork lesson is really helpful for activities that might need more time to understand, the multiple engage, study, and activate stages really help to reinforce the material being learned, in my opinion.
