Teaching special groups have 5 categories: Beginners, Individuals, Young Learners, Business English and Monolingual vs Multilingual. Every teaching group requires different skills and this unit discuss all the advantages and disadvantages of these different groups and what common problems you can encounter within these groups. A discussion for the typical process to follow for teaching Business English were discussed and how to go about the needs analysis.This unit covered the development of a course and creation of a syllabus. To develop a course correctly you should assess the students level of English and afterwards their needs. This is done through initial level testing and a needs analysis. That way you determine the students needs and can design a syllabus accordingly. At the end of the course the students progress should be assessed. This can be done by means of a test (various tests were introduced).
