This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Overall fro what I have learned from this unit is how to teach receptive skills which is reading and listening. Both skills is very important when you are teaching and they also have diffrent effects. What I have learned is that you have to use them both equal, which makes a lot of sense, Since i can relate to them from my own experience as a student. More important is that you also have to make it interesting for your students by choosing text's and movies that the student likes, and can relate to. And finally to use that material in a ESA straight arrow lesson. This unit exemplifies what to and what NOT to do in a live teaching environment. Some of the points are fairly subtle and it was interesting to see the two comparisons in regards to the students' participation. The first video is a good example of all the points to avoid, especially when it comes to imparting education to someone who has no prior experience. Learning needs a safe and comfortable environment and this all depends on the teacher, which is self-evident in the second video, when he takes care to engage and elicit some good responses from his students.
