This unit discusses managing classes with regards to classroom arrangement, giving instructions, maintaining discipline, and more. Reading this unit makes it easy to reflect on my own habits as a teacher, what I need to improve, and what I can do to make that happen. I am sometimes inconsistent with the vocabulary I use to teach instructions and I rarely formally prepare instructions for the game or activity beforehand. This is something I want to improve on in order to be able to be understood more clearly by my students and reduce confusion in the classroom.This unit examines common problem situations that teachers can encounter in the classroom and some possible solutions for dealing with these problems. First classes, warmers, different levels, reluctant students, difficulties with listening texts, large classes, and use of native language are the specific problem areas that are identified, and elaborated upon in this final unit of study.
I have learned that there are teaching techniques that should be used to create a successful class, and effective ways of dealing with problems that can arise in a classroom.
