It is extremely important to realise that the two skills Reading and Listening should be taught by comparatively same means. The unit also made reflect on how I support my students on pre-reading/listening stage.
But there's still one problem I don't know how to deal with and it's students with very poorly developed receptive skills. Even though some of them may have a good knowledge of grammar and vocabulary they still ma not recognize some words while listening.Having a lesson plan that allows for flexibility is the key in my opinion. It needs to be structured for students to be successful and motivated to learn but also allows them the freedom to learn and move in a way that is beneficial and age appropriate for them. I also planning for a dozen or so activities for each class because of the young nature of my students. Working on keeping them engaged and motivated to continue to learn is the key in good lesson planning.
