The variety of placement tests available serve important functions. In addition to measuring the language skills of the students, they are also used as entrance exams by employers and universities. For this reason, having some familiarity in their design and testing scope is a key to any good course preparation. I plan to become familiar with the major exams by taking them myself. In this way, I can more effectively prepare my students for success.Unit four is based on the various forms of present tense structure such as: simple present, present perfect and present perfect continuous. As a native speaker, these forms flow easily, without thought during daily use but categorizing them for teaching requires a brush-up of knowledge. With that said, I appreciate this unit for breaking these types of present statements and questions into manageable formal groups so that I may teach them to learners.
