Teaching receptive skill includes reading and listening, which are important skills in the path of language learning. Therefore, it is vital for a teacher to help our students cultivate the two skills effectively. There are a few factors that would create challenges during the process, for instance, the vocabularies used in a piece of writing or audio may be too hard for the students to understand or the theme/topic of the piece may not interest the students, diminishing their interest in learning. To counteract the obstacles above, there are a few things a teacher should do. First, choose a text or recording that suits the student's level and is in accordance with the students interest. Second, get to know the students properly. In addition, motivate the students by creating interest. When the teacher apply the suggestions, the entire teaching will be extra benefiting.
