When teaching receptive skills - reading and Listening, it is important to capture the students attention from the engagement phase with interesting and relevant topics.
once this is done it is important to keep their interest, pre-teaching difficult vocabulary will help student greatly.
It is important for the students to know the diffidence between receptive skills, know the diffidence between recreational reading/listening and detailed information reading etc.This is a completely new area for me. Learning about the teaching language took some time to get through and understand. During this unit, I put myself in the student's position to see how it would feel to learn with each method. I could easily see the pros and cons for each. I can also understand the evolution of each method. The unit started my own thinking in to how I would approach teaching English and how it will be a lot of work and fun at the same time.
