I enjoyed learning about when accuracy is appropriate versus fluency. I have been teaching pre-prepared English classes, and this unit will definitely hone my skills regarding when to make corrections. After studying this unit I feel that writing is such an important skill, and that in an online classroom scenario, it is difficult to implement writing (in a pre-prepared environment). When given the latitude to teach my own classes, including online, I would like very much to implement writing activities. At the very least, a spelling test could be a starting point!This section gave a good overview of the type of test available and their function. It provided me with a good way to plan a course for students where I am unsure of their existing abilities. It also provides a method of finding out what parts of the curriculum are being grasped and which need more attention.
The testing might be just as important for me as it is for students as I can learn which teaching tactics are resulting in adequate learning. If a number of students are succeeding or failing at specific aspects, I can alter my teaching priorities and strategies.
