After reading unit four I have learned how to teach new vocabulary, grammar, and functions using the ESA approach. Unit four did a great job describing what words are more or less difficult for students to understand. Also this lesson illustrated the steps on choosing the right vocabulary based on frequency and coverage of the words. The students will need to know the meaning of the word, how to use the word, proper grammar, how the word is spelled, and the pronunciation of the word. With these tools I feel comfortable teaching my students an exciting and new language!In this unit, I learnt that regular tests, even when conducted in an activity or fun worksheet, is beneficial for a teacher to look for language points that are difficult for students. It is also valuable for the student to do the necessary revision for weekly or monthly progress tests that would eventually be asked in practice tests for external exams. The most important thing is to teach students how to prepare, what structure of an examination to expect and go through all skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to make sure their expected level is reached.
