This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
While reading this unit, I often turned back to what I learned about the teaching style of Paulo Freire who taught Problem Education. Instead of teaching his students to read using things that were not relevant to them, Freire used pictures and examples to further his point and cause his students to extract the meaning from within themselves. I link this to the factors of motivation on the part of the student and the teacher. Just as Freire worked to make the students truly learn on their own, as resources we must resist \"spoon feeding\" our students. Likewise the students may be motivated by this style and begin to learn better. The dynamic between student and teacher should not be one where the teacher is tossing out treasures of knowledge from on high in an ivory tower, but rather one where he or she shares what they have learned for the betterment of their student.
